Mr. Allaire is a 91-year-old retired, disabled veteran. He was owed several "back payments" of his disability benefits. The benefit checks were erroneously deposited into an account that did not belong to him.
After months of trying to resolve the issue with the bank and the VA, Mr. Allaire's social worker referred him to CCLS' Veterans' Legal Services Project.
Through the combined efforts of CCLS, pro bono counsel, and other community partners, we were able to have the checks re-issued to Mr. Allaire, providing him with the resources he needs to support himself and lifting a heavy weight off his mind.
CCLS is a non-profit corporation, tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. CCLS is funded, in part, by LSC and is restricted from engaging in certain activities. CCLS will spend all funds in accordance with the LSC Act of 1974, as amended, and implementing regulations.
